From my heart

As I have said before, my friend, Joe Dorman, challenged me to learn a bible verse each day.  I have not been good at this, so I decided one a week.
For week 1... Here are some  thoughts.... My goal each day is to be happy. Sounds simple, doesn't it?  My choices determine my attitude. My attitude affects not only me, but those around me.
Proverbs 16:9
A man's heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.

If the Lord is directing my steps, surely happiness will follow.  That's my plan.  What is your plan?

Have a great week!

From my heart

Day 2
Ecclesiastes 12:13 & 14
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter; Fear God and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
For God shall bring every work into judgement, with every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil.

From my heart

My friend, Joe Dorman, recently challenged me to post a Bible verse each day.  After the events of the last week in our community, I thought this would be a good place to start.

John 16:22
Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice and your joy, no one will take from you.

Conversations from the old black bench

My parents, uncle and aunt owned a grocery store for almost 50 years.  Inside the front door to the left, set an old black bench, where customers (mainly friends) would sit for a spell and drink a soda (coke) and visit.  Many of the worlds problems were discussed and solved from those sitting on that old black  bench.
One of my favorite memories was an old friend by the name of Doc Sharp.  He was a kind gentleman, raised in the country, who always had a story or 2.   He was very respectful, especially when talking about his mamma. He always (how I remember him) wore overalls and an old wide brim straw hat.  The one thing you could count on was he would come for a visit, drink a pop and always have a kind word.
We need more Docs' in the world.... I miss him.

I plan to share more stories from my family's grocery store life.  Hope you enjoy them.

It's the most wonderful time.....

Once again here we are... Hustling, bustling,  shopping for the perfect gifts for those we hold so dear... Yes my shopping is done and the lights are on the tree.... White Christmas is on tv (yes the Bing Crosby one)  and my thoughts wander back to holidays with my mom and dad..... I get very nostalgic this time of year, and I try very hard to continue the special customs that my mom had.  It's the best way to share a tiny bit of my mom with my grandchildren who never got to meet her.   What are your traditions?  Whatever they are, I hope your holidays are filled with love and happiness....
With love,
Charla

In The Kitchen With Judy

It's a special Saturday morning on Redstone Farm!   My 2 grandsons spent the night with us and were excited to help in the kitchen this morning!  We decided that French Toast and ham slices would be our breakfast!
Our "French Toast" recipe is very simple...2 eggs, salt, pepper and milk all mixed together as Brylan calls it.. And Zac says dump bread in it.    The crowning moment was pouring original Griffins syrup all over our toast! Well as you can see, it was a great breakfast on this cool, damp October morning.... And remember.....GO POKES! And Boomer Sooner!
